The diet soda industry is rapidly declining, and big brands are losing money. People are realizing that soda & high-sugar drinks are terrible for your health.
The easiest and fastest way to make the transition to a health, whole-food, vegan, plant-based diet is simply by changing what you drink each day. It's such a simple change. And, for me, it's easier to take food changes one step at a time.
If you are hoping to eat healthier in 2018, start by changing what you drink. Here are some super simple steps to help you get started.
- Stop buying drinks with over 12 grams of sugar per serving, or with artificial flavors. That means Coca Cola and Diet Coke are both going to be gone from your diet.
- Replace with sparkling flavored waters. Because they are sparkling, and have some flavor to them, they still almost feel like drinking soda, but without any sugar. My favorite is the sparkling water brands from Target that have lime, lemon, grapefruit and peach flavors. And they're only about $3 USD for 12 cans. So you'll save money if you drink soda, and it wont feel like a huge change.
- Feel free to still drink non-dairy, no-sugar coffee and tea drinks. My favorites are cold brew, iced peach tea, black tea, green tea, and medium roast coffee. Numerous studies have shown that these kinds of drinks can still keep you hydrated and have some mild health effects from tea leaves and coffee. You still should add lots of water in the mix, and not drink exclusively tea or coffee, though.
